Explorer spatial analysis

The Spatial Analysis widget runs provider-backed GIS analyses and can promote results as a derived dataset for other widgets. The route is part of Data Explorer on the Professional package, including before a license is activated. It is not in the Open Source package.

Requirements

  • Interactive Explorer engine support (PostgreSQL / MySQL for general Explorer)
  • PostGIS for Spatial Analysis execution today
  • Other spatial engines return a clear unsupported message from the provider

Sources

Source Behavior
Current Report Dataset (default) Active explorer query; requires ≥1 geometry column
Spatial Table Connection → Schema/Table → Geometry via metadata

Analyses

Stream analyses (report dataset) include Buffer, Cluster, Convex Hull, Bounding Box, Centroid (with additional kinds registered via plugins over time).

Table analyses (spatial table) include Buffer, Spatial Join, Summarize Within (with additional stubs/plugins for Intersect/Union/Clip and related kinds).

Results are cached. Use as Dataset promotes them for Table/Map/Chart/Filter/export/handoff.

Map sources

Explorer can discover map sources and tables for map widgets where configured. This does not replace GeoServer/ArcGIS admin connection management.
